SAFE COLOURING POLICY

SKIN TESTING AND SCREENING FOR SENSITIVITY AND REACTIONS

At the salon i follow a safe colouring policy for the safety and peace of mind of my clients.

I use testing a screening to check the suitability for the colouring products i provide, please find more information below on the procedure i follow within the salon.

CONSULTATIONS

Every new client or existing client who wishes to change method of colour must book in for a consultation & allergy alert test before your appointment. Consultations are needed so i can carry out the relevant tests, including an allergy alert test. This is to ensure the service you wish is safe to carry out and suitable for you. We can discuss colours and set expectations by going through a thorough consultation form, this appointment usually takes approximately 20 minutes and can be booked here. Failure to book in for this service when required will unfortunately result in refusal of service.

ALLERGY ALERT TEST

For your first skin test with me or if it is 6 months since your last skin test, please make an appointment to attend the salon at least 48 hours before your colour appointment. This can be carried out up to a maximum of 5 days but no less than 48 hours before your appointment.

When you arrive at the salon for your skin test, i will carry out a thorough consultation and ask you some screening questions. I will then apply a small amount of colour to the inside of your elbow or behind the ear.

This will need to be left on the skin for 48 hours, should you experience any signs of

  • irritation

  • reddening

  • swelling

  • inflammation

  • itching

Please contact me as soon as possible

If you develop symptoms that make you feel very unwell please contact a medical professional as soon as possible.

Please note: Allergies can develop unexpectedly. The absence of of reaction to your skin test is no guarantee that an allergic reaction may not occur as a result of a future hair colouring process. However this test represents an important precaution . In case of doubt, medical advise should be sought.

When you attend the salon on the day of your colour appointment i will observe the test site and ask you to answer some screening questions. Determined by the results i will then advise if it is safe to carry out your colour service. Subsequent colour services may not require an skin test subject to the screening questions.

SCREENING CHANGES OR CHANGES TO YOUR COLOUR

I advise you to let me know before your appointment if there are any changes that may effect the screening questions or if you want to change your colour as this may require another SKIN TEST

I take your safety very seriously and i alway invest in the most up to date practices.

I would like to thank you in advance for complying with all relevant up to date tests and screening before your colouring appointment.

RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE

I Reserve the right to refuse any service in the event that the following situations arise.

  • If you as the client refuse to book in for a skin test to be carried out. Under no circumstances can i carry out any colouring services without an Allergy Alert test. Failure to book and agree to this service will result in refusal of any colouring service until the test is carried out and completed in line with our policy.

  • Unfortunately if you or your child are under the age of 16 i will not be able to colour your hair as this is not advised according to manufacturers instructions.
